Dog stories by Michael FinleyThe stories on this page are chapters of two books I've written. One is called THE DOMINANT DOG, and it describes my problems with my standard poodle Beauregard. The other is called POODLEVANIA. It is a mixed bag of dramatic, humorous, and life-and-death affairs.
Everything here is copyrighted. I would prefer that you not copy these stories for now. But I invite you to tell other dog-lovers about the place. So click on any link, to your right. And give me feedback, if you're so moved. I always enjoy hearing from people about their critters. I'm especially curious how you feel about downloading Microsoft Reader e-books, PayPal, and the Amazon tip jar. I am happy to offer these materials free for your enjoyment. We're not at the point yet where readers will pay a dime to enjoy a fun essay or column (drat!). But -- should you feel the urge to contribute to the cost of this site, you can do so by buying your next books, music CDs, or videos after following this link to Amazon.com. They pay a few percent in referral fee for anything bought by users who enter their site from my site. (Since this is fully anonymous, I won't know whom to thank, but you have my thanks anyway.)I've
had some visitors complain that my site comes on too strong with ads and offers.
If so, it's been strikingly unsuccessful -- I make less than $200 annually this
way. What do you think? I'm especially interested in your opinion on my PayPal
offers, my Amazon book offers, my Amazon "tip jar," and downloadable
Microsoft Reader e-books. Is it too much?
Are they hard to
understand? Just plain unappealing? What
should I be doing instead? Why not bookmark Mike's columns for your weekly enjoyment? |
Dog's Best Friend:
Annals of the Dog-Human Relationship
by
Mark Derr
Derr's book is a terrific
summation of the status of dogs in modern society. It is a marvelously researched current
affairs book, looking at dogs as a social phenomenon. It is more of a "serious" journalistic
treatment than Poodlevania, which will have more of an intimate flavor.
