I've had some visitors complain that my site comes on too strong with ads and offers. If so, it's been strikingly unsuccessful -- I make less than $200 annually this way. What do you think? I'm especially interested in your opinion on my PayPal offers, my Amazon book offers, my Amazon "tip jar," and downloadable Microsoft Reader e-books. Is it too much? Are they hard to understand? Just plain unappealing? What should I be doing instead?

Dog's Best Friend:
Annals of the Dog-Human Relationship
by Mark Derr
Derr's book is a terrific summation of the status of dogs in modern society. It is a marvelously researched current affairs book, looking at dogs as a social phenomenon. It is more of a "serious" journalistic treatment than Poodlevania, which will have more of an intimate flavor.
