Apology
Door closes quietly,
oblivion echoes,
footsteps hollow
in the vacant chamber.
An empty box with windows
all that remains of my universe.
Whirling thoughts scream,
"come back, let me stay
in your heart, draw you
into safe arms,
kiss away the hurt,
trace tender lips with mine".
Shadows creep up bare walls,
bloom unobstructed.
Chill sides around me,
empty room, empty heart.
Images are everywhere, before the fireplace,
on the stair - curved hip, eyes that crinkle
with humor. Unspoken words are heard
that should have been said months before,
"I'm sorry, forgive me".
